On Monday, January 13, we attended a key meeting with the Ministers of Finance, Tourism, and Environment, supported by several Vice Ministers from the Ministry of Culture, aimed at presenting the government’s vision to promote tourism investments and air connectivity in the Dominican Republic as a strategy to foster the country’s economic development.
The ministries expressed their commitment to work jointly and in a coordinated manner to streamline the permitting process — ensuring no delays, full transparency, and clear rules — provided that the projects comply with Law 158-01 and its complementary regulations.
During the meeting, the authorities confirmed their intention to accelerate the approval of at least 40 projects immediately, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining the CONFOTUR regime while safeguarding the legal certainty established by the regulatory framework for tourism and related sectors.
It was also emphasized that applications must be submitted properly and in full compliance with legal requirements — with no irregularities or exceptions.
The Minister of the Environment took the opportunity to announce that, starting March 1, a new digital platform will be launched to significantly reduce the approval times for environmental permits, marking a major step toward greater efficiency in the investment process.
